At the beginning of the oil spill coverage, NPR had a story I wasn't listening to very closely about oystermen in the gulf, and how they would suffer. One of the things they said was that oysters filter seawater- that they do their little oystery best to clean up the environment as they feed on it. And that they would be collecting large amounts of oil into their systems as they filtered what they could out of the ocean.

This makes me want to cry.
